Lucknow: BA LLB Student Assaulted by Fellow Students Inside University Campus Parking Area
A shocking incident has come to light in Lucknow, where a second-year BA LLB student of a private university located in the Chinhat area was allegedly assaulted, abused, threatened, and humiliated by a group of fellow students inside the university campus parking area on August 26, 2025.
The case has raised serious concerns about student safety, campus security, and the mental health of the victim, who is reportedly traumatized after the incident.
The Incident
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the victim’s father, Mukesh Kumar Kesarwani, his 20-year-old son, Shikhar, a second-year BA LLB student, went to attend classes on August 26, 2025.
Shikhar’s friend, Soumya Singh Yadav, picked him up from Hanemann Crossing in a four-wheeler. Upon reaching the university campus, they parked the car in the parking area when a group of students, including Ayush Yadav, Jhanvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla, approached them and said they wanted to “talk.”
Believing it was a normal conversation, Shikhar agreed, and all of them entered Soumya’s car. However, what followed inside the car was a 45-minute-long ordeal.
Assault and Threats
Once inside the car, the group allegedly hurled verbal abuses at Shikhar, issued threats, and intimidated him continuously. Shikhar had recently undergone ligament and knee surgery and was still walking with the help of a crutch, making him physically vulnerable.
When Shikhar requested permission to leave and attend his class, Ayush Yadav and Jhanvi Mishra allegedly slapped him nearly 50–60 times. They also verbally abused him, insulted his family, and threatened to kill him if he dared to oppose them.
Humiliation Filmed and Circulated
According to the FIR, during the assault, Vivek Singh and Milay Banerjee allegedly recorded videos of the entire incident. Shockingly, these videos were later circulated among students on the college campus, further humiliating the victim.
This action has caused severe mental trauma to Shikhar, who is now living in constant fear.
Snatching and Damaging the Victim’s Phone
The FIR also mentions that Ayush Yadav and Milay Banerjee allegedly snatched Shikhar’s mobile phone. They deleted several chats, damaged the device, and warned him not to reveal any details about the incident to anyone.
Before leaving, the accused threatened Shikhar that if he attended college again, he would face similar consequences or even worse.
The FIR and Police Investigation
Following the traumatic incident, Shikhar’s father, Mukesh Kumar Kesarwani, lodged an FIR at the Chinhat Police Station late on August 28, 2025.
DS Mishra, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chinhat Police Station, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and that an investigation is currently underway.
The FIR also requests the authorities to delete the viral videos circulating on the college campus and social media to protect the victim’s dignity.
Sections Likely Invoked in the FIR
Though the exact IPC sections were not officially mentioned, based on the allegations, the following legal provisions are likely to be applied:
-
Section 323 IPC – Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt
-
Section 354 IPC – Assault or criminal force against a woman (if applicable)
-
Section 506 IPC – Criminal intimidation and threats
-
Section 504 IPC – Intentional insult to provoke breach of peace
-
Section 427 IPC – Mischief causing damage to property (phone damage)
-
Section 509 IPC – Insulting the modesty of a person
-
Section 34 IPC – Acts done by several persons with a common intention
Additionally, if the videos were circulated without consent, provisions under the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 could also be invoked.
Impact on the Victim
According to the FIR, Shikhar is in a state of extreme trauma following the incident. Being a second-year law student, the attack has deeply affected his confidence, mental health, and academic life.
His father stated that his son:
-
Fears attending classes and stepping inside the campus.
-
Is emotionally disturbed and living under constant fear.
-
Feels humiliated due to the circulation of the videos.
University’s Role Under Question
While the incident took place inside the university premises, there has been no official statement released by the university authorities so far.
Parents and students are questioning the lack of proper security measures on campus. If a 45-minute-long assault could take place inside the parking area without intervention, it raises serious concerns about student safety within the institution.
Campus Bullying & Ragging — A Growing Problem
This incident highlights the growing menace of bullying, intimidation, and group assaults inside college campuses. While ragging has been banned by the Supreme Court of India and is strictly prohibited under UGC anti-ragging guidelines, many incidents continue to surface nationwide.
In this case, the fact that the victim is a law student adds another layer of concern. A place meant for learning the law has turned into a space where lawlessness has prevailed.
Legal Actions Demanded
The victim’s father has requested:
-
Strict legal action against all the accused.
-
Deletion of the viral videos to prevent further harassment.
-
Assurance of safety for his son within the college campus.
If proven guilty, the accused students could face serious legal consequences, including suspension from the university and criminal prosecution.
Police Statement
SHO DS Mishra of Chinhat Police Station said:
“We have registered an FIR under the relevant sections and started an investigation. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.”
The police are expected to review the CCTV footage, confiscate the circulated videos, and question all accused students in the coming days.
What Happens Next
The investigation will likely focus on:
-
Identifying the exact sequence of events through CCTV footage and video recordings.
-
Questioning the accused students — Ayush Yadav, Jhanvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla.
-
Verifying the circulated videos and identifying everyone who shared them.
-
Ensuring the safety of the victim and preventing further harassment.
-
Collecting medical evidence of the assault and documenting injuries.
Once the investigation concludes, the police are expected to file a chargesheet in court.
Conclusion
This shocking case from Lucknow exposes serious lapses in campus security and highlights the urgent need for stricter laws against group assaults, bullying, and video humiliation among students.
The police investigation is ongoing, and strict action is expected against those found guilty. Meanwhile, students, parents, and the larger academic community are demanding better safety measures inside universities to ensure that incidents like this do not happen again.
